Get Started with Pet TopID
Before You Start
- iPhone Users: The NFC reader is at the very top edge of your phone (near the camera).
- Android Users: The reader is usually in the center back.
Most Android phones also require you to turn on "NFC" in your settings.
Important: Your phone screen must be ON and Unlocked.
Step 1: Activate the Tag
Tap your phone against the Pet Topid tag.
Click the notification link that pops up on your screen.
You will see the welcome screen. Click "Get Started" or "Create a new pet" to begin registration.
STEP 2: CREATE YOUR OWNER ACCOUNT
First Time Here? Enter your email to register. We'll verify it with a secure code sent to your inbox.
- Register: Enter your email address to start.
- Verify Email: Check your inbox for a verification code sent by Pet TopID. Enter this code on the screen.
- Set Password: Create a secure password. You will need to enter it twice to confirm, then click "Sign up" to complete your account setup.
Existing users can simply click "Log in" at the bottom of the screen.
Note: This email will become the main contact for your pet.
STEP 3: ACTIVATE & FILL PROFILE
Crucial Action: Re-Scan
Once registration is complete, you must scan the tag again. This links the specific physical tag to your new account and opens the editing page.
Mandatory Fields:
You only need to fill in two fields to go live:
- Pet's Name
- Contact Phone (Select your country code)
All other fields (like photo, medical info, temperament) are optional but highly recommended for better protection.
Step 4: Save & Update Anytime
- Save: Don't forget to save! Scroll to the very bottom and click the Green "Update" Button.
- Verify: To see what a rescuer would see, simply scan your tag again. Your pet's profile will appear instantly on the screen.
How to Edit in the Future
Moved house or changed your mobile number? No need to buy a new tag.
- To Edit: Scan your tag and log in to your account.
- Instant Sync: Change any detail (e.g., update "Home Address") and click "Update". The information on your physical tag updates instantly through the cloud.
Your data is secure. Strangers scanning your tag can only view your contact info to help your pet; they cannot edit or delete your account.
Beyond the Basics: Optional Info & Best Practices
While only the Pet's Name and one Contact Phone are mandatory, filling out the optional sections can be critical in an emergency. It is entirely your choice what extra information to share.
Important Disclaimer:
Information provided in the medical, allergy, or behavioral fields is for general reference to assist rescuers or vets during a crisis. It is not intended for diagnostic or medical treatment purposes.
Recommendations for a Safer Profile:
- Health Accuracy: We strongly recommend truthfully listing critical conditions (e.g., "Diabetic - needs insulin daily"). This ensures better care if your pet is found injured.
- Temperament Notes: Help strangers stay safe. A note like "Fearful - Do not chase" or "Friendly with humans, aggressive to other dogs" is very helpful to a rescuer.
- Privacy Balance: If you are uncomfortable sharing your exact street number in the "Address" field, listing just your Suburb and Postcode is often enough to let a local finder know the pet is close to home.
- Backup Contact: Use the second phone slot for a partner, relative, or your usual vet in case you cannot be reached immediately.
